Biography

Otto Johnson
I received a BA in History from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where I further developed an interest in 20th-century global conflicts and their lasting impact. My primary focus areas include the First World War, the Russian Revolution, the Second World War, and the Holocaust. These events not only reshaped the political and social landscapes of the modern world but also continue to influence contemporary global dynamics.

As a historian, I'm committed to exploring the human experiences behind historical events – how ordinary individuals lived, survived, resisted, and remembered during some of the most turbulent periods in history. I approach my research with a strong emphasis on archival research, primary sources, and critical analysis.

In addition to academic research, I'm passionate about public history and education. I've contributed to community history initiatives, educational programming, and projects aimed at preserving and sharing historical memory with broader audiences. My goal is to make history accessible, relevant, and deeply human, whether through writing, public speaking, or collaboration with museums and academic institutions.

Studying the past, especially in moments of crisis and transformation, helps us better understand the present and prepare for the future. I aim to encourage thoughtful engagement with history and foster dialogue across disciplines and communities through my research.
